“That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero.”
– Stan Lee, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
We had 2 Spider-Man’s in our house for Halloween this year! Jack was Spider-Man Far From Home, and Felix was Miles Morales from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. These boys play Spider-Man more than anything else, so they really had a lot of fun with their costumes. We did 2 little shoots, one at the “Spider-Web Park” as it’s referred to in our household, and one downtown at the new High Park.
And now, because I make the boys wait to wear their costumes for free play until after Halloween, these are likely the only things they will be wearing for the next several weeks.
Thanks for visiting! I’m Carlin, and this is my personal photo blog. If you’re looking for my Wedding + Lifestyle work, here’s a link back to the main site.

S E V E N
J A C K – You are a force of nature. Your energy and tenacity are completely exhausting – and I wouldn’t want it any other way. You bring so much adventure to our family. You push us out of our comfort zones and you encourage us to take risks (although I may need to take a nap after;). This has been an amazing year for you – completing Kindergarten and starting Grade One. Learning to read with confidence and excitement for what you’re able to read all by yourself. You lost your first tooth the day after these photos were taken (and 2 days before your birthday), and you are VERY excited to share that news with everyone you see! You’ve grown so much in kindness and compassion for others this year. You love your friends fiercely, are always excited for family movie night, and any time we get to do something fun and with friends. You absolutely LOVE Spider-Man, and wear the same 3 Spider-Man shirts over and over again. You won’t let me throw them away even when they are completely worn through. You call yourself “Jack Parker” and legitimately want to be bitten by a radioactive spider so that you can be Spider-Man when you grow up. You got yourself dressed for these photos and insisted on wearing a tie so that you would look more “formal”. I love your heart, your adventurous spirit, your dimples, and your constantly changing facial expressions. I love your excitement when you hear stories of how Jesus has healed people, and you are learning that you can pray for people, too! And that Jesus can heal them through you. I pray every day that Jesus gives you dreams, and that He would take you on incredible adventures while you sleep. He loves you with an endless love that will never fail, even when your mom & dad fall short.
I love you, kid!
F E L I X – My sweet, hilarious, analytical thinker. You are a quiet leader and you make others want to be around you. Your focus and determination astound me, and your belly laugh makes me hyperventilate. This year you lost FOUR teeth, entered your own creation in the Break-a-Lego event, and learned to dance an epic floss. You have loved starting Grade One (you tell us sometimes that you don’t like school, but I’m fairly confident that you love it, at least most of the time). Your favourite subject is Math, which you have caught onto very quickly. You have been reading so well this year and are persistent in learning until you have mastered any task. My favourite time of any day is when I get to spend a few quiet (or very silly) moments with you before you go to sleep (well, with you and Fuzzy Emmanuel;). You ask for Bible Story and then we talk for a little while about Jesus and how amazing He is. You are learning to pray with boldness and I see the Joy of the Spirit in you so evidently. I pray that you learn to hear from Jesus even more this year as you walk with Him. I pray that He teaches you the depth and breadth of His love for you in the quiet of your heart.
I love you my son!
Together you guys are the best of friends. Your strengths can cause you to butt heads at times, but they also draw you together. I pray that your friendship grows as you celebrate your uniqueness. Know that you are each loved and treasured for exactly who you are.
The above photo perfectly summarizes Jack + Felix’s unique personalities. I told them to “pose like Spider-Man”, and Jack jumped into this pose immediately while Felix stood and thought about it, saying “I don’t know which one to do!”
