I have many fond memories of picking “pop berries” with my cousins during family vacations in BC. We would throw them on the road and wait for cars to drive on them, hoping that they would make a loud explosion. Of course we never heard anything but the car noise but it was still fun!

While out for a little walk with Jack, we spotted some pop berries. He sure had fun smooshing them on the road while I reminisced about my own childhood.

Learning to Tractor

Jack & Felix sure love all things farm. During vacation we saw lots of tractors and the boys got to ride on this one at Summerland Sweets.

There’s something so intriguing about an old, rusted piece of farm equipment. It takes me back to so many childhood memories of summers spent at my grandparents farm.

Breakfast Date with Felix

Some Mommy-Felix time during our family vacation. We sat and ate scones and shared a smoothie for breakfast at the Beanery Cafe in Summerland. After Felix takes a drink of the smoothie he makes an effort to stand up on his chair to pass it back to me for my turn.

Felix – I love your little fingers – criss-crossed and covered in crumbs. I love your wide eyes and how excited you get when you learn something new . I love your sensitivity and how you thoughtfully care for me, even just by making sure that I have a turn with the smoothie. I hope for many more dates like this with you.

Beach Days

There’s not a lot that can beat a good beach day in my books. Soaking up the sun, lazily reading a book, sipping on a pina colada… mmm… bliss.

Wait, scrap that… I have twin boys! Our beach days are no longer the relaxing experience that they once were, but instead are filled with chasing ducks, burying our feet in the sand, jumping off the dock into the lake, throwing sand in the water, tickle fights and an overtired mom and dad just laughing deliriously at our crazy life. Because what else are we supposed to do?

Jack noticed all the big kids jumping off the dock into the water, so he promptly put on his life jacket and ran over to join them. Felix was chasing this duck for quite some time and then the duck went into the lake. Felix ran into the lake, paused, and then went and got his angry bird float so he could continue to chase the duck in the water.

Thanks for stopping by! I’m Carlin and here on my personal photo blog you’ll find photos of my everyday adventures with my husband Stephen and our twin boys Jack and Felix. I can’t promise that all these photos will be perfect, but they are precious to me because they represent our perfectly imperfect life. The mess, the struggle, the joys, and all the fun of raising two little boys that have a tendency of driving their mother crazy. They are 2.5 and they never. stop. moving. So if you’re reading this please pause for a moment and pray for my sanity. Thank you! Breakfast Date with Jack

In many ways, having twins has been so much fun. I love hearing my boys giggling together and wrestling each other to the ground. I love that they care for each other and are concerned when their brother gets hurt. But one of my struggles has been feeling that I don’t get to spend one-on-one time with each of my boys very often. So, while on family vacation, Stephen and I decided that we would go on little dates with each of the boys separately.

For my date with Jack, we went to the Beanery in Summerland and had a breakfast of muffins and tropical mango smoothies. We watched the train go around the ceiling and I felt that I could actually talk to Jack about what he was seeing around him, and it was so much fun.

Jack, you are such an adventurous and curious little boy. You are incredibly social and you like to talk to whoever comes around. I loved spending time with you on our breakfast date and I am excited for more special dates with you in the future.
